2026 Economic Census as the Basis for Targeted Policies

JAKARTA – Statistics Indonesia (BPS) emphasizes that the Economic Census is the most essential instrument for the state to obtain empirical and valid data regarding the current national economic and industrial landscape. Considering the rapid dynamics of the global and domestic economy, massive-scale data updates become a necessity that cannot be delayed.The comprehensive data collected through the Economic Census will play a dual role. First, as evaluation material regarding the effectiveness of economic policies that have been running for the past decade. Second, as the government's main stepping stone in projecting strategic steps to boost economic competitiveness and advance the domestic industrial sector measurably.BPS ensures that the level of business actor participation highly determines the quality of public policy in the future. The availability of accurate data will eliminate the risk of mistargeting in the distribution of government assistance or incentives. Therefore, all business actors are encouraged to welcome the SE2026 implementation that will roll out from May 1 to August 31, 2026.
