Abstract

In May 2024, Cilacap experienced a year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate of 2.53 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.98. The y-on-y inflation occurred due to price increases indicated by the rise in nearly all expenditure group indices, namely: the food, beverages, and tobacco group by 5.27 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 0.69 percent; the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 0.46 percent; the household equipment, appliance, and routine household maintenance group by 0.70 percent; the health group by 4.68 percent; the transportation group by 1.29 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.19 percent; the education group by 1.74 percent; the food and beverage/restaurant provision group by 0.91 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 4.19 percent. Meanwhile, the information, communication, and financial services group experienced deflation or a decrease in the index by 0.71 percent.

The month-to-month (m-to-m) deflation rate was 0.16 percent, and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation rate for Cilacap in May 2024 was 1.06 percent.
