Still on the poverty series, the next information is about the easiest-to-understand indicator of poverty. Let's get acquainted with the number of poor people.

The number of poor people is the number of people who are unable to fulfill basic rights (rights to food, clothing, health services, education services, employment, and business opportunities, and/or housing) adequately and independently; or people who have an average monthly per capita expenditure below the poverty line.

With this approach, poverty is viewed as an economic inability to meet basic food and non-food needs as measured by expenditure. So, the poor population refers to those who have an average monthly per capita expenditure below the poverty line.

The number of poor people in Cilacap Regency in 2024 is 186.08 thousand people, a decrease of 4.92 thousand people compared to 2023. In other words, it still shows a declining trend since 2021.
