Hello, #DataFriends! Welcome to the poverty series. If we discussed poverty indicators yesterday, today we will talk about the determinants of poverty criteria. Because if we don't know, we're usually reluctant to greet, so let's first get to know what the Poverty Line is.
The poverty line is a minimum expenditure value for food and non-food needs that must be met to avoid being categorized as poor. The Poverty Line (PL) is the sum of the Food Poverty Line (FPL) and the Non-Food Poverty Line (NFPL). People whose average per capita expenditure per month is below the Poverty Line are categorized as poor.
The Food Poverty Line (FPL) is the minimum expenditure value for food needs, equivalent to 2,100 kilocalories per capita per day. The basic food commodity package is represented by 52 types of commodities, including grains, meat, eggs and milk, and vegetables. The Non-Food Poverty Line (NFPL) is the minimum need for housing, clothing, education, and health. The basic non-food commodity package is represented by 51 types of commodities in urban areas and 47 types of commodities in rural areas.
The Poverty Line for Cilacap Regency in 2024 is recorded at IDR 441,093 per capita/month, or in other words, a family of four (father, mother, and two children) will be considered poor if their expenditure is less than IDR 1.64 million.
